Billy uses technology in your phone called geofencing to know whether you're home or not. This is really important for a lot of reasons. For example, we don't want to notify your family that you've missed a meal if you've gone out for lunch with friends.
What is geofencing?
Geofencing is a service that triggers when your phone enters or leaves an area. When Billy is set up with your home address, a radius of around 100m is drawn around this address:
If you take your phone outside of this area, Billy will know that you're away from your home. Billy will know again when you return. Your family will see when you're away through the Billy app:
What if I don't have a smartphone?
If you choose not to use a smartphone, that's ok! Just let us know so we can help with an alternative way to know if you are home or not.
